![]() I'll do pretty much the same thing on the bass, only more aggressively. This can keep the intelligibility up while helping level extremely dynamic singers. This allows leading consonants to cut through, relatively uncompressed, before the compression kicks in for the vowel sounds. It is not unusual to see me turning about 10-15dB of compression with the attack set to a moderately slow setting. ![]() I'll often get a bit ham-fisted with compression on vocal microphones and bass guitar. This will individually compress each vocal microphone. This means you will need another stereo compressor to get enough channels. Put a compressor channel on each vocal mic. There are a couple ways to approach this.
